Biography and press reviews

I formed Panza Division in December 1980 with Andy Freeston on drums and Rick Corcoran on guitar/vocals,both were members of my former band Rokka.We were joined on bass guitar by Alan Edwards.

With this lineup we recorded 2 tracks ' The Day The Delta 4 Played Mars' and 'Blitz' for release on Midlands compilation album 'Scene Of The Crime' ( Suspect Records ).

" Panza Division offer on the one hand an entertaining hunk of SQ-style boogie called 'Blitz' and on the other the Lp's standout cut ' The Day The Delta 4 Played Mars'.... in all a delightful departure from the usual limited lyrical norm."

We were now members of the 'New Wave Of British Heavy Metal' club

In May 1981 keyboard player Eugene Maloney joined the band and we went into the studio with producer Colin Slade to record the single 'We'll Rock The World/Standing On The Outside'.

"Sheffield based Hm'ers Panza Division have just released their first single 'We'll Rock The World/Standing On The Outside'.It's a 45 of considerable promise which could propel the group into the steel city limelight."

"Radio Hallam were none too pleased at the band sticking their banner over the stations branding by all accounts" From the book 'Dirty Stop Out Guide' by Neil Anderson.

In May 1982 Steve 'bubbles' Mitchell replaced Andy Freeston on drums and we went into the studio to record 'Fm Fantasy' with producer Pete 'Wheels of steel' Hinton but without Eugene who moved on to electronic music projects.

It was after this recording session that Andy Fisher replaced Alan Edwards on bass guitar.

Opening for the Americans would not have been easy for any band but Glenn Marples and his crew rose to the occasion with creditable self-effacement that warmed them to the sardine-packed crowd squeezed in beyond Karen Harvey's wildest dreams!

When they offer up songs like 'Rockin People' and 'Blitz' you know they mean it , good and hard

By the end of 1982 we had changed the name of the band to ' The Lonely Hearts'

Lonely Hearts were actively playing and recording from1983-1990.Band members over the years include -Andy Fisher,Steve Mitchell,Rick Corcoran,Marc Gordon,Steve Spring,Nicki Gill,Baz Holt,Andy Barrott,Mel Gabitas,Marc Callaghan,Paul Harrison and a few i never met.
